About Catalina
Catalina Nieto (she/her) is a queer, migrant, mestiza, salsa/bachata dancer, popular educator, lover of mother earth, freelance Spanish-English interpreter, co-facilitator of the Interpreting for Social Justice training and language justice practitioner and consultant. Catalina has accompanied social movements as an interpreter and Language Justice practitioner for the past 8 years. Catalina migrated from Bogotá, Colombia 20 years ago and before becoming an interpreter, she was a community organizer with organizations connected to immigrant rights, lgbtq+ and social justice movements in the U.S. She has a B.A. in Sociology, a B.A. in Communications, Media and Theater and an M.A. in Social Justice and Intercultural relations.
