A CALL TO MEN: Talks to 100s of People at the YWCA of Nashville and Middle Tennessee
Movement Maker and Co-Founder of A CALL TO MEN and law enforcement officials spoke to a group of hundreds of people gathered Wednesday at Belmont University about how men’s attitudes that objectify and denigrate women are precursors to violence against women and girls. The event was hosted by YWCA of Nashville & Middle Tennessee.
Domestic abuse and violence are a major problem in Tennessee. The state was third-highest in the nation for the murder rate of women at the hands of men in 2010, according to a report released last year. Three years earlier, Tennessee wasn’t even in the top 10. And last year, Nashville police responded to more than 24,000 reports of domestic violence.
