Movement Maker organization, A Long Walk Home, Inc., hosted SOARS: Story of a Rape Survivor Performance on July 21st in Chicago.

SOARS is one woman’s story of finding her voice and reclaiming her her body, sexuality, and self-esteem after being sexually assaulted in college. Featuring the music of Nina Simone, the photography and poetry of founders Scheherazade Tillet and activist Salamishah Tillet, and a diverse cast of Broadway dancers and award-inning women artists, SOARS shows how the shame, guilt and self-blame that rape victims too often experience can be eased and that the stories of rape survivors can be one of triumph and hope. This Chicago performance will feature Nigerian singer Ugochi and television actress and Broadway dancer, Hettie Barnhill.
