Sandy Davidson has over twenty-three years of experience as an advocate. Most recently she served as the Progam Manager for the Advocacy Learning Center at Praxis International. She has worked as the Children’s Program Coordinator in a small rural shelter and as a child advocate in a large metro shelter.
As the Children’s Advocacy Program Coordinator with the Minnesota State Coalition for Battered Women, Sandy coordinated training/networking opportunities and policy and legislative initiatives for the statewide network of child advocates. Sandy also served as the Project Coordinator for the Coalition’s Rural Domestic Violence and Child Victimization Enforcement Grant funded by the Violence Against Women Office, U. S. Department of Justice. In that capacity she coordinated the statewide efforts to develop protocol when issues of battering and child abuse co-exist. In addition, she co-authored a manual for advocates entitled, Responding to the Dual Issues of Battering and Child Abuse: Promising Practices for Battered Women’s Programs. She has provided training and consultation for Red Wind Consulting, the Minnesota Indian Women’s Sexual Assault Coalition, the Southwest Center for Law, national Tribal Trial College, and other local, state and national organizations working to end violence against women. In addition, Sandy served as a Circle Keeper for the Minnesota Indian Women’s Sexual Assault Coalition during their early years of development and remains an active member of the coalition.
