Bystanders No More: Forum Hosted by Sanctuary for Families and A CALL TO MEN – Video Available
On Monday, February 24, Movement Maker organizations Sanctuary for Families and A CALL TO MEN hosted Bystanders No More, a forum about engaging men in the movement to end gender violence. The event, which took place in New York City, was standing-room only with over 400 supporters in attendence. Movement Maker Ted Bunch was part of the event’s panel. Peter Buffett of the NoVo Foundation gave closing remarks.
“The overwhelming majority of men are not violent, but are silent about the violence,” said panelist and A CALL TO MEN co-founder Ted Bunch. “That’s as much as part of the problem as the violence.”
From addressing the range of ways in which men are negatively impacted by gender stereotypes to describing how men can break their collective silence around this issue, the panelists challenged everyone in the audience – men and women – to break the silence and support efforts to end gender violence.
